This industry encompasses a range of employment pathways, such as becoming a travel consultant, cruise consultant, and reservation sales agent. These pathways allow candidates to work across various areas and expand their general and workplace knowledge.

This entry-level qualification will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to start your career in the travel industry. You will learn how to provide advice on international and domestic destinations, provide customer service to clients, process travel-related documentation, sell and book products and services, and prepare quotations.

 

This nationally accredited qualification provides the foundations required to upskill and pursue further course studies in the retail travel or tour wholesale sector or go on to university.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Successful completion of this qualification may lead to employment as:

  • Call Centre Sales Agent
    Assist clients in planning and arranging their holiday, travel, and/or accommodation reservations and offer advice and information about tours, local attractions and events.
  • Travel Consultant
    Advise suitable travel packages and options for clients and help them plan and book their tickets, accommodation, transportation, tours, insurance and fares.
  • Cruise Consultant
    Provide travel services for clients booking future cruises, including booking flights, organising cruise accommodation and transfers and planning itineraries.
  • Reservations Sales Agent
    Provide booking, reservation and travel arrangement assistance to clients on behalf of a company, agency or tour operator.

LOCATION

These services are delivered on behalf of The Learning Collaborative by approved Third Parties. Our Third Parties are conveniently located throughout south-east Queensland.

 

It is the responsibility of the approved Third Parties to recruit, enrol, support, train and assess students undertaking this course. The Learning Collaborative, in consultation with the approved Third Parties, is responsible for support and certification of all students enrolled in this course.

  • SITTTSL008 Book supplier products and services.
  • SITTTSL009 Process travel-related documentation.
  • SITTTSL010 Use a computerised reservations or operations system.
  • SITTTSL012 Construct normal international airfares.
  • SITTTSL013 Construct promotional international airfares.
  • SITXCCS006 Provide service to customers.
  • SITXCOM002 Show social and cultural sensitivity.
  • SITXWHS001 Participate in safe work practices.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, students may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to determine any learner support requirements.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

If students hold prior relevant work experience or formal qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), these may count as credit towards specific units. Please contact us for more information regarding eligibility or applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
