The NWP20115 Certificate II in Water Industry Operations is the perfect entry-level course designed to provide you with the basic knowledge and practical skills required to start a career in the water operations industry.

 

The Australian water operations industry is one of the largest essential sectors of our country’s workforce. With an estimated job growth of 3.9 percent by May 2023, there is ample opportunity to establish and develop an exciting and successful career pathway in this necessary industry. While the percentage may appear quite small, the demand for jobs in this industry are at a high and will continue to grow to compensate for the growing populace and Australian lifestyle.

 

This sector encompasses a range of positions, such as irrigation field operators, surface water operators, and wastewater assistant operators. These positions allow candidates to work within a team to ensure that all water operating systems are fully functioning and operating to achieve the desired outcomes.

 

Upon completion of this qualification, you will be equipped with the mandatory skills and knowledge to work in this thriving industry. This qualification also gives you the opportunity to explore the many facets of this sector to determine which area of the Australian water industry you wish to specialise in.

 

With this qualification you will attain general competencies in water industry operations, with the opportunity to specialise in treatment, networks, source, or irrigation.

 

This nationally accredited qualification provides the foundations required to upskill and pursue further course studies in the water operations industry or go on to university.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Successful completion of this qualification may lead to employment as a:

  • Irrigation Field Operator
    Operate and maintain the day-to-day implementation of irrigation activities for stock or domestic purposes.
  • Surface Water Operator
    Assist with operating the technical facilities involved within water catchments and dams.
  • Water Assistant Operator
    Assist with monitoring, operating and controlling the treatment processes in water treatment plants.
  • Wastewater Assistant Operator
    Assist with monitoring, operating and controlling the treatment processes of wastewater.

LOCATION

These services are delivered on behalf of The Learning Collaborative by approved Third Parties. Our Third Parties are conveniently located throughout south-east Queensland.

 

It is the responsibility of the approved Third Parties to recruit, enrol, support, train and assess students undertaking this course. The Learning Collaborative, in consultation with the approved Third Parties, is responsible for support and certification of all students enrolled in this course.

UNITS OF STUDY

This qualification contains 11 units. These units are made up of 2 core units plus 9 elective units, which may be taken from the elective units listed in the training package. View training package.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, students may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to determine any learner support requirements.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

If students hold prior relevant work experience or formal qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), these may count as credit towards specific units. Please contact us for more information regarding eligibility or applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
