COURSE INFORMATION

THIS UNIT PROVIDES PARTICIPANTS WITH THE ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO PERFORM EFFECTIVE FIRST AID RESPONSES, CPR AND TREATMENTS TO A CASUALTY IN A RANGE OF SITUATIONS.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will achieve a nationally recognised qualification and gain the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid treatment for a variety of medical, trauma, environmental, poisoning and envenomation emergency situations in the home, workplace, or community settings until medical assistance arrives.

 

Learners will also learn how to manage unconscious casualties, provide CPR, and use an AED (Defibrillator).

 

Learners must be able to complete at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR performed on an adult manikin placed on the floor to gain competency in this course.

 

These skills are in line with the first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

LOCATION

This unit is delivered onsite or alternatively, we also have a practical training facility at The Club, Parkwood.

ASSESSMENT

This unit will be assessed using a combination of written assessment and practical skills observations.
